Posted Date: 11/13/25 (8:14 AM)

Bolivar High School welcomed 300 senior citizens from the community for an evening of food, music, and theatre during its annual Senior Citizen Night on Thursday, November 6th.

The free event began with dinner provided by Citizens Memorial Hospital, followed by performances from the BHS Jazz Band and BHS Choir, and concluded with a special showing of the BHS Drama Department’s production of Little Women.“This is one of our favorite traditions of the year,” said Dr. Michael Methvin, Superintendent of Bolivar R-1 Schools. “It’s a joy to open our doors and celebrate the senior citizens who have given so much to our community while giving them a glimpse of the amazing things our students are accomplishing.”“It was an amazing night being able to welcome our senior citizens and interact with them,” said senior Aileen Siegfried, who helped organize the event. “It’s always a joy to see the smiles on their faces and give back to our community.”

Bolivar Schools extends a special thank-you to the City of Bolivar for providing golf carts to assist guests throughout the evening. The district also recognized the outstanding efforts of more than 100 students in the BHS Interact Club, JAG, FBLA, NHS, and the boys and girls basketball teams, whose members volunteered their time to serve, greet, and assist attendees.
